24-7 Defibrillators arrive in Hampton Village
We have exciting news that the three defibrillators have been installed in the village. These vital life saving pieces of equipment are available to all 24-7 and are located at the YMCA White House Community Centre, Hampton Social Club (opposite the railway station) and at Hampton Ferry boat house on Thames Street (opposite the Bell Inn).
We are working towards defibrillator no.4 to be situated near the green. Why are four needed in a small village? In recent events of someone needing a defibrillator, it was extremely lucky that it happened by a school equipped with a defibrillator and when the school was accessible, got us to thinking what if it was ‘out of hours’ incident and we thought that it would a great way to look after the Hampton Villagers if ever this equipment was needed, then where do you put one? So having another is based on the premise you can never have enough of these dotted around the Village.
All the defibrillators have been funded by donations from your local independent traders, the response to to our appeal was humbling and over whelming, we are delighted and so proud to be a part of such a great caring organisation of local businesses, that enjoys supporting Village life and now has gone one step further in keeping the village alive...
Keep a look out for public training days to be organised soon.
We are hoping to raise some money for defibrillator no.4 at this years Classics on the Green by the spectacular raffle organised by Lynne at Hampton Cellar and by programme sales. A new book on the history of Station Road by John Sheaf is now available.
In The Changing Face of Station Road, Hampton, John Sheaf gives a thorough and detailed history of the road. Subtitled Developments in the Area since the 1860s and a Short History of Every Building in Station Road, the book splits the road into sections, with maps to help the reader follow the text, copious illustrations both modern and historical, and information on the occupants and uses of each building.
